Still battling the vendors. Got tired of listening to one tool vendor
promise CD by end of week, etc, and not delivering. Trying to switch to
another vendor for that tool. Load up new product - all compiled down to
V4R5 with no observability. Got the line that they were working on that
situation and it's almost ready. Told them that we're tired of "the
checks in the mail" type of answers and that the sale is not going to
happen until that is long resolved.
Another vendor... Here's the replaceables to support V6R1. My reply - I
reran ANZOBJCVN and there are several objects still there. Vendor - All
objects that begin with letter ... or ... are no longer used and can be
deleted. Me - I ran DSPOBJD on them and some show a last used date of
yesterday. Vendor - Oh, that's still used, I'll get you the fix.
Be careful with your vendors. Most of them did not want to do any work
until forced to, and even though they got the notice about ANZOBJCVN long
before the rest of us, they follow the adage "Never do today what you can
put off until tomorrow." Common BS excuse was they were waiting on their
copy of V6R1 first. Now, with dates fast approaching they are scrambling
and are shipping [excrement].
One vendor can't even find their source for one of the programs. They've
declared that one no longer used.
It took us about an afternoon to get all of our custom stuff done. What
is so freaking hard about this!!??
