Greg,

The problem is the interaction between old and new.

When using the new functionality, such as journaling, triggers, stored procedures, UDF sect. with old
techniques like CPYLIB or simply restoring with a different library name.

Here's a nice article by IBM's Kent Milligan.
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/library/techarticle/0305milligan/0305milligan.html

or http://tinyurl.com/9woc3

Think about it. If you save a file from LIBA and restore it to LIBB and the file is journeyed to
JRNA, what is the right answer? If DB2 didn't journal the file back into JRNA then it hasn't
effectively restored the same object you saved.

In a DR situation, you wouldn't have a problem as you'd be restoring the files to the original library
and the original journals.

Subject: RE: SAVLIB - RSTLIB

Rob provided this example:

"I just did this:
STRSQL
CREATE COLLECTION ROBGREG
CREATE TABLE ROBGREG.DUH MYCHAR...
INSERT INTO ROBGREG.DUH...
SAVLIB ROBGREG DEV(*SAVF) ...
RSTLIB ROBGREG... RSTLIB(ROBGREG2)
Cannot restore journal QSQJRN to library ROBGREG2.
JRN QSQJRN not restored to ROBGREG2.
Journal identifier X'EBF00006DE5994F40001' is currently in use.
Journal identifier X'EBF00006DE5994F40002' is currently in use.
Cannot restore receiver QSQJRN0001 into library ROBGREG2.
JRNRCV QSQJRN0001 not restored to ROBGREG2.
...
20 objects restored. 2 not restored to ROBGREG2.
See DSPMSGD: CPF7086, CPF3756, CPF707F,
Don't just ignore CPF3773 diagnostic messages. "x objects restore, y
not restored..."
"
-----------------------------

So here is my question which will probably seem stupid to you journal
experts.
How does one make a copy of a library containing journals and detached
receivers?
For example during disaster recovery how do you get the journals back?
Why aren't detached journal receivers restored? They are just sitting
around doing nothing.

Obviously we are not big journal user but I have 2 that are essential.
Also I noticed that although journals and receivers were not restored to
my LibB, the journal in LibA was now tracking the corresponding files
from LibB which was very much not desirable.
