Re: Journaling

In theory you can setup a trigger on a file.

Any time anything tries to update that file, irrespective of what programming language it is in, the trigger can capture before / after images and launch some program to evaluate whether the change violates some business rules you can setup.

The trigger knows what record being updated triggered it.
Part of the magic of the IBM DB.

You might give some thought to how long you want to store these before after record images on a busy file ... there's disk space to consider.

Hello all,

I would like to see the before and after images of certain fields in a PF.

Is it possible to start journaling on a file for specific fields? I can
not find anything like this in the Journaling Commands, GO CMDJRN.

We are at V4R5, Not V5R4.
