I think it's just that the wiki is a tool we don't use enough, and IMO
it's just a matter of momentum of habit.
We should all feel free to add our bit, or insert a clarifications where
we think it's useful and so on. Including redundancy. Discussion pages
can be used if there arises a difference of opinion.
In matters that evoke opinionated points of view, like language wars,
the best approach for those in a wiki --IMO-- would be to have text
grouped for each, or a linked page for each view, but with room for the
advocates of same.

What I have done (so far) in a couple of instances (SQL) is to put my

Do you think it would be better to edit the paragraph I think is in
error and let the rest of the community re-edit it if neccesary?
In the case of your SQL edits, I'd definitely put them in the main page.
I am not a wiki guru, just a beginner. I try to use the talk pages as a
place to collaborate with other people interested in the page. I
haven't had much in the way of response... Maybe nobody is interested in
the same pages I am.
