In particular, if you want a language "more in tune with Java," use Java.

And I was under the impression that there had been an option to
eliminate The Cycle since somewhere in the V5s (and again, if you have
such an aversion to The Cycle, why are you using RPG at all?)


what matters is if my opinion is valid or not. In every shop ( except one )
I have worked in the last few years, service programs and procedures have
been rarely used. I think it is because programs and service programs dont
support the level of reflection needed to automate the detail work the
current RPG ILE programmer has to learn and do. ( in .NET, by
comparison, there are no header files, no binding source, no signature
violations )
