Any thoughts on the powerVM and lx86 stuff?
I5/os finally announced on BladeCenter S chassis.
To me, this is the future of the box. I absolutely can see the idea of
a business rules processor on a blade that you can shove into a chassis
and that talks to the outside world through RESTful services or stored
procedures. Hell, if someone writes a smart enough rules processor, you
could download rules off the Internet for a nominal fee. The point will
be that the i5/OS blade will process way more transactions than anything
else, and with better stability.
RPG and COBOL programmers both could find a long career writing the guts
of those machines. They'd in effect be "embedded business rules
processors" <grin>.
