I think that Add-in is not user-friendly - usually requires too much SQL knowledge, etc. But you CAN save transfers for later use, not sure if the workbook name has to be the same all the time. Otherwise, the user has to know which PF to upload TO. But it's worth a try, I suppose.

You might do well to write a macro to do it, but then that macro has to exist in all spreadsheets.

Maybe you could look at pulling the sheet up - we have a product - RPG2SQL - that has an import command - CL command - data in workbook has to match the PF - but it could even be called using an ODBC thing from the PC. The usual - call me or sales at 800.RJS.SOFT or email me for more info.

What steps do you follow to upload Excel worksheet data to an i5 DB2
file (or to a file that subsequently can be CPYF with *MAP *DROP to the
DB2 table).

I am thinking of Excel Add-in with iSeries transfer. It will be at
least a year before we upgrade to Oracle's JDE Worldsoftware release
A9.1 that has excellent PC upload/download functionality to all database
files.

I, with my programming skills and command line access, can do uploads
for my users, but I want to make it so that a user can transfer their
Excel worksheets up without assistance from I.T. department.
