Customer did get a Ultrium 4 drive inside a TS3100 Tape Library (rack mount).
But has 8 years of history on 3570 cartridges (almost a thousand tapes). It's thousands to get it all converted or stored somewhere. If we can rack mount or get a shelf it fits on for a few hundred, they would rather do that. Regularly have to restore for tax audits (operations in many states). May eventually restore and consolidate to Ultrium or hard disk storage. Till then gotta have access to the 3570.

Perhaps this is a good time to switch from a 3570? I had nothing but
problems with those as they aged and we scrapped them years ago. Granted,
a new tape drive may be expensive, and duping all your tapes may be a
hassle, and new tapes may be a cost factor, but the new drive may come
with a year's free maintenance - and that's worth something.

Oh, and V5R4 allows you to dup tapes to virtual image, which may, or may
not, help you out.
One of those new utilities despite some believers attitude of new releases
provide no new features to the bottom line and only cost money.
