How many vendors still remove observability?

Since the CISC-to-RISC transition, removing observability does not save as much disk space, since the RISC instruction stream is so much larger than its IMPI equivalent, so the percentage saved by removing observability is lower. And, since V5R1, removing observability only compresses and "hides" the creation data, so the template still takes up considerable space.

To protect "intellectual property" and make it harder to "reverse-engineer", with ILE, New MI is not documented outside of IBM, so it should be far more difficult to reverse-engineer a program from the NMI template (compared with OPM MI). This is another good reason for vendors to move away from OPM and covert to using ILE languages and compilers exclusively.

IMHO, there is no longer any reason to remove observability.
