Curious. Was this truly a whole new system. Or, was it a system that was
to replace an existing system? The reason I am asking is probably to
launch into one of my usual tirades about how this is not your father's
AS/400 but it's a System i and the trick of piecemealing an upgrade by
just restoring a few things here and there instead of upgrading the source
system, doing a full save, and doing a full restore on the target system,
is going to get you in trouble.

That being said, however, it's probably best to consider what
ramifications, if any, would happen even on a normal upgrade. For
example, if you do give a particular user access to a set of commands, and
IBM refreshes those commands in a release upgrade, does it carry over your
new authority? I believe so. But if you change the command defaults or
some such thing then they will be lost. In that case, it would be better
to use the one posters suggestion that you use a wrapper program that
adopts authority or some such thing.
