It has to be real-time.
And I was trying to keep all the logic, inside of my PC app.
Thanks again for your help, I may have to go that route.

The outfile, sorry. How dynamic does this need to be? You could set up a CL
program to do the DSPFD, and then run it in the job scheduler every night.
Alternatively, you could set up a DTS package to call that same CL program.
Then you could query the outfile with the PC after you pull it across. If
you use CPYTOIMPF to place the file into the IFS, you wouldn't even need to
pull it to your PC. Just point your query to the folder in the IFS.
Just a thought.

To yank what file? The PF with my members? Or the OUTFILE, from the
DSPFD? I could retrieve the outfile, but then I would have to tell my PC
program to run the DSPFD command with parameters prior to the "Yank", and I
don't know how to call the execute dspfd with the ADO provider.
Thanks, Tim

How about using file transfer to yank the file over to your PC?

That won't work for me... I'm actually trying to return the member list, in
a C# .net program. And I just want to use the ado.net data provider. So I
was hoping to be able to sql a table from PC app. If I was running this on
my iseries, I would use your suggestion.
Or is someone can tell me how to do this in C# I'm open to suggestions as
well. I'm trying to avoid the ODBC, and OLE DB routes. I want to use the
managed code version of the data provider.
Thanks, Tim

DSPFD FILE(library/sourcefile) TYPE(*MBRLIST) OUTPUT(*OUTFILE)
OUTFILE(library/outfilename)
Then query against library/outfilename.

Is there a table, I can SQL, that contains the member names of a pf-src
file?
