Hi Steve,
You've probably seen this, but just in case:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/index.jsp?topic=/rzaiw/rzaiwsslre.htm
I didn't see the specific error you were getting, but it had some
suggestions that might be useful --
SSL return codes
The topic lists the system Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) return codes for the
most common problems that might occur during SSL initialization or SSL
handshake.
You need to do these steps before using the following return code tables:
* You need to find the SSL return code in the QTVTELNET job log.
* In some cases, you need to work with the Digital Certificate
Manager (DCM) configuration to correct problems with certificate
authority (CA) certificates or system certificates.
* When you copy the CA certificate information for your Telnet SSL
client, remember to include the lines containing the words BEGIN
CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE.

Enable Telnet SSL
Greetings -
I am trying to 'turn on' SSL for Telnet sessions to my system (V5R4M0).
I
have succeeded in creating a CA and a certificate and getting the
certificate assigned to my Telnet server so that, in DCM when I "View
Application Definition", it displays my certificate as the "Certificate
Assigned" for "i5/OS TCP/IP Telnet Server".
However, when I attempt to connect using iSeries Access V5R4M0 SI20465,
I
get the message
"Failed connecting to secure remote server/host 10.9.20.254 using port
992,
error code 414"
which indicates "Incorrectly formatted certificate received from
partner.".
Ideas?
Thanks,
Steve
