We use Turnover, and I feel a need for more than source versioning - not sure everyone here agrees - heh! One of my primary concerns is taking care of the impact of change. In non-iSeries environments, I'm inclined to say that this is not hyper-critical - the number of dependencies is far less than on the iSeries, seems to me. Yes, an executable needs to be rebuilt when one of its .o objects gets changed. But we have PF-LF relationships, format level IDs, all kinds of things.

But talking with another developer here, we got on the topic of using 'ant' for build scripts. Apparently, you can put all these dependencies into an ant script and have it build only what is needed, based on what has changed. I think there are possibilities here, for software change management on a budget. WDSC is supposed to have a nice ant script builder perspective or view.

It would be nice to have something that TRULY handles cross-platform issues, as well as ILE well. Maybe I'm behind the times, but these things have all been difficult.

Arcad says they use ant for their build stuff.

Another article for Aaron to write!!

Can you let us know when it is out? I would like to see that.

I don't know what your needs are, but I just shipped off an article to
IBMSystemsmag.com detailing how to use SVN from the green screen without
involving WDSC or your PC. It is set to print in the Jan or Feb issue (or
possibly the newsletter, which would get it out there in the next month),
and for obvious reasons I can't publish it on my site until then. If you
are making a decision before then and want to consider this tool go ahead
and shoot me an email.

If you are mostly looking for source versioning/management then this is an
excellent tool. If you want more than that you will want to look to the
vendor track you have already started.

Hey all,

Does anyone have or know someone with any experience with these guys?
I'd never heard of them until today. They did a web demo for us and
it seemed fairly robust.
