You might should have received a poster-like thing for connecting your i5. If not, go to infocenter for V5R4 and look for the hardware infocenter - then find the i5/p5 sections and rummage around.

You need IBM's special cable or a vendor supplied that does the same
thing. The UPS must support the Open/Close relay style of interface. Most
PC type UPS's use a Serial Interface. Those will not work.

The port is labeled either T1 or T2
