The users will not be required to change their password or follow the new QPWDMINLEN until their current password expires. Then when they attempt to change their password they will have to follow the new rule.

Subject: Password Lengths

I would try this in my Test LPAR but it's not up right now, so pardon the
'just try it' question.
I currently have my minimum password length (QPWDMINLEN) set to five.
Security wants me to up it to eight which I don't have a problem with.
My question is, if I up it to eight what happens to folks with passwords
less than eight?
Do they log in correctly the first time but are forced to change the
password to an eight character password?
Do they keep the password that is less than 8 until they hit the password
expiration interval (QPWDEXPITV), at which they will have to make it 8?

I just want to know what the impact will be to me and the help desk.

Thanks
