RE: IBM not investing in i5/OS was: iSociety

EGL sounds like a great tool for web development but then so did net.data when it first came out. While net.data still works I don't know of anyone doing anything new in that tool. How long do we give EGL to see if it will survive before committing production applications that may be around for 10-15 years?

No - I know I didn't misunderstand because I made a point of asking
him afterwards if I had understood him correctly. This was back in

Well, even if he did think that was the case back then, it's pretty clear
what he thinks now, Jon. Here's a more complete quote:

partner, we can show our clients that building Web applications is not as
hard as they think, because EGL provides an easy way to start."

Seems to me he's pretty clearly stating that RPG programmers can use EGL,
and that there's no Java involved.

Or do you read it differently?
