The level of support offered in the HP printers... Note the Y Y Y for LPR, PCL,SNMP
and the fact that it has a HPT supported rtvwscst *HP or *HP4000.

The MFRTYPMDL for HPT column lists the Manufacturer Type and Model (MFRTYPMDL)
setting that can be used with Host Print Transform (HPT) to select the appropriate data stream
for that printer. This can apply to use with a PC5250 printer session as well as a Remote Output
Queue , a *LAN 3812 PJL device description, a *LAN 3812 SNMP device description,
or a *LAN 3812 IPP device description.

I would configure it as a 3812 with HPT support using *HP4000 as the *mfrtymdl.
I bet it will work.

I have done this with many different printer/copiers and it will normally work quite
well. You will have to fool around with fonts, etc,etc but it's no big deal if you get
the printer working as a devd printer. The general rule is if the printer supports
PCL , then always try a devd first before any other method.

Thanks Pat. How did you determine that I could use a devd for the
printer?

It would appear that you can use a devd for that printer. This will give

you a LOT more support. You can then start playing with prtf changes and
font setting.
