Based upon past machines, every new model had new feature codes. Look at
the 820. When they changed from i-Star to s-Star machines, the feature
codes
changed. I would use that as a good indication. While I have no knowledge
of future events, sometimes we can look at the past and predict the future.

Subject: Power 6 and the Feature Code

With so many software vendors basing their price on a combo of the
P-level and the feature code, I am wondering if the new Power 6 will
result in a change to the feature code and therefore a surprise price
increase for a lot of folks using packaged software. I have asked an
IBM source and they will only say that the Power 6 will not change the
p-level of a machine. But they are ominously silent about whether it
will change the feature code or not.

Anybody out there know the skinny on this one? Thanks.
