My experience is that you DO NOT have to restart TCP/IP.
You do have to set the HOSTNAME and DMNNAME parameters of CHGTCPDMN to
appropriate values, however.
It also seems weird to me that you set HOSTSCHPTY(*REMOTE), since most
shops use *LOCAL. This won't cause your DNS lookups to fail, so it's
not part of the problem at hand. I just want to make sure you're
choosing this deliberately, and not by mistake. In most situations, I
recommend setting this to *LOCAL.
