As far as I can recall, I haven't seen an authoritative statement of whether or not (a) PASE is totally contained within 5722SS1 option 33 "PASE" or (b) that option is primarily an interface to an internal "PASE" that exists whether option 33 is installed or not.

I mean, obviously the 'Portable App Solutions Environment' installs a bunch of programs and files. But maybe those are mostly shells, utilities and other supporting objects. It might be like 5722ST1 doesn't install SQL nor the capability to create and use QM queries and forms; it's more that it installs a bunch of handy interfaces that make them far easier for people to use.

So, how much of PASE (AIX?) is part of i5/OS if "PASE" isn't installed. Semantics? Perhaps. But it seems relevant to know.
