We are going to take our 520 down this weekend to replace an aging battery in the UPS. Except for the time my boss accidentally unplugged the processor from the UPS, this will be the first time that the system has been turned off since it was installed over two years ago.

I read the Info Center section on shutting down the system, which, in summary, includes stopping or holding jobs and queues and doing a power down *Immed. Does the cache battery need to be flushed? I checked out the STRSST option and it said that, if the cache battery is forced into an error state, it would have to be replaced. Also, it seemed to indicate that the system would no longer use the cache (since the battery would be in an error state); not a good thing obviously.

Thanks.
