I know this has been beaten about lately but I'd appreciate some

I may need to eke out another year on my 270 & 720. I thought the load
source requirement was 17gb minimum but the "Memo To Users" says 8gb for
V5R3M0 and 17gb for V5R3M5.
Has anyone out there installed V5R3M0 (upgrade from V5R2) on a machine
with 8gb drives?

I did it (and am working on cumes/groups now) on my 170 a few days ago. I replaced a 4GB load-source along the way that I'd been meaning to get around to for a couple years.

In any case, no problems -- once I recovered from the aborted image-catalog first attempt and got the fixing PTFs in place. But that was unrelated to 8GB load-source drives. AFAIK, it technically needs around 4.8GB or so; but that means it spills over to the 8GB range.
