ECS/ESA need to be configured on a new system to work correctly. I had
my fair share of trouble with IBMs change to it, but I've almost always
got it working. I always install and configure ESA on new systems we
ship to customers.
But now I've run into problems with an i5 setup by another IBM BP - ESA
wasn't configured on said machine, and after talking to the customers BP
about he told me that it's IBM's responsibility to do this. The fact
that this machine was running without ESA for a year told me something
different.
I've rechecked this with some of the older guys at my company, and there
obviously WAS a time where the whole ECS/ESA stuff was handled by IBM.
But right now, I'm unable to find documentation, official announcements
etc. that would indicate that this is really a customer task. As such,
the other BP refuses to fix it, and I don't want to call support on this
issue (for obvious reasons).
Does anyone of you have an official source on this topic?
