On pre V7 HMCs, you can use WebSM. That's not really nice though, so I
would suggest an upgrade to V7.

We're not yet on V7. Is that statement true for versions before version
7?

You're not telling me that you're standing at the physical HMC and are
trying to work with it? Local KVM switches are a last measure option,
not for daily work.

Use the Web based Interface for all your administrative tasks.

It's the same as on the HMC, if you're running V7.

Subject: HMC Complaint

Hello folks,
We just started using the HMC last month on a new 520. My
administrators (and I) are having a little difficulty when working
directly
on the HMC itself. I was wondering if anyone was experiencing the same
thing. It may seem minor, but my admin's are suggesting some solutions.

1) The curser control on the HMC is too sensitive and is too easy to
close
out screens you didn't want to, and not select the proper window
sometimes.
The curser control is similar to a laptop, which many people try to use
a
mouse with when possible.

2) Has anyone attached a mouse the HMC, and if so, did you attach
something
to the right of the cabinet to facilitate this?

I'm wondering if this is an issue, or do most people just access the HMC
from remote and therefore use a mouse already.

Thanks, Larry
