If there is a storage saving, it is not manifest to the display feature. The storage saving is the reduced data in the receiver. If the data were presented by DSPJRN in a minimized manner, the claim that "data will be viewable and may be used for auditing purposes" would not be valid, because the scale showing alignment matching with the format of the file would in fact not align. The MINENTDTA(*FILE) makes no similar claim, and some manifestations of minimized data is presented; i.e. some data may or may not be human readable, and alignment along the scale will not necessarily match the layout of the fields in the file.
The *FLDBDY was introduced AFaIK solely to satisfy the requirement to get the benefits of /minimized/ yet still be able to view the aligned data of the journaled row; i.e. minimized is nice, unless the ability of a human to read the DSPJRN output is vitiated.
