and I'll go one further that you can on 5250, while the user is entering
the next item number the web page will validate/retrieve description of the
last item.

This is a good point. It is an amazing wonder to me why it took so long for
the big players to come out with this post Web 2.0 technology. When I say
"post Web 2.0" I am talking about Adobe's Flex3
(http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/), Microsoft's Silverlight
(http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/), and Sun's JavaFX
(http://www.sun.com/javafx).

Does anybody else agree with a prediction that AJAX (when coupled with HTML
and CSS) is on it's way out? Remoting will still be done with the above
technologies, so the server side of small and simple requests will still
exist, but the client side will be taken over by "Browser Thick Clients", if
I can coin the term.

Has anybody used Flex3, Silverlight or JavaFX yet? Flex3 has a lot of
example apps with a *few* business related ones. The user interface looks
to be much better with these, but I wonder about performance?

The funny thing about web technologies over the past 10 years is that they
have constantly been trying to get back to what the i5 has had for centuries
with it's 5250 - if only IBM gave it the much needed face lift [shaking
head].
