Do you have iSeries Navigator? There is a database editor there = itHeh!
works with source files. It DOES work with only the first member, as
it is SQL based in its principles. You will see the source date and
sequence columns, too. It nags you about not having journaling on
whenever you make a change - but you did NOT say you wanted EASY, right?

You could also bring a member down to the PC and use some text editor
- TextPad actually has some templates for RPG - then you send the
file back up.
But that might be too modern for you, you Luddite!
BTW - that editor in Navigator could be used to change source change
dates - as could SQL, I suppose.

EDTF will get the job done. In some ways it is surprisingly easy to
togranted there is no syntax checking of any kind. However, I would like
listknow if there are alternatives. This is on green screen 5250, running
"bare bones" V5R4.
