Aha true enough. But as with all LandMines this may happen when you don't expect it. If the designated service partition is the only one running and it does a PWRDWNSYS RESTART(*YES) you get a server IPL (or Deep IPL as IBM refers to i) as a free 'bonus'. The MH PTFs get applied as fixes to the firmware, they are made active AND automatically accepted to the P side and then i5/OS comes back up 'after a time.' If your HMC is too old to communicate with the new level of code in the FSP then it stays dark and you call IBM. :-) Therein is the landmine - discovered when you were not looking for it.
