I know, but lots of subscribers don't get the opportunity to go to COMMON or
any of the other conferences and as the conferences draw near the list turns
into a social planner discussing the best places to meet for a beer and
pizza.

Usually the COMMON postings run to hundreds of messages and there's hardly
ever a "wrong forum" thread whilst other posts get jumped on straight away.

Maybe the solution would be to have a "CONF-L" list that those interested in
the conference schedules, voting, socialising, etc, could subscribe to and
then everybody would be catered for.
