SQL INSERT help

Hello,

Is the following sql statement possible using only sql? I'd like to have
the 'get_prod_desc' execute an sql statement that returns the product
description.
insert into mylibrary/myfile (warehouse, product#, description)
values('WH', '123456789', get_prod_desc('123456789'))

Is there an easier method that doesn't involve a procedure? Maybe something
like the following:
insert into mylibrary/myfile (warehouse, product#, description)
values('WH','123456789', (select description from product_master
where prdno = '123456789'))
