You have "issues" if you need to change all these PC's because of IP/DNS
changes. Technically, changing the IP address of any of your servers
should not require a change to one single PC in your network. These
should all be accessing the server by name and not by IP address. The
server name should NOT be in a local host table but should be retrieved
from the DNS specified in the PC's configuration. Typically you have more
than one DNS. And, I think PC's allow you to configure the client to use
3 different DNS entries. If you are adding a new DNS, then you may have:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx for primary dns entry
yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy for your backup dns entry
zzz.zzz.zzz.zzz for your new dns entry
This will allow you to phase in a new dns without having to change all
PC's at once. Been there, done that, have the scars.
