Hi Adam

The QLICOBJD system API is the one you can use to change the user defined
attribute (amongst other things) for an object. I have a sample CL program
at http://www.astradyne-uk.com/code/index.php?id=51226e62f7 that I use to
add version numbering details to compiled objects and another CL program at
http://www.astradyne-uk.com/code/index.php?id=01b530fb5b which can be used
to change an objects source file information.

For a full list of available source members for download, take a look at
www.astradyne-uk.com/sourcecode.php.

All the best

Jonathan

Subject: Associating extra information with an object

Hi all,

I seem to remember a discussion on this list (or perhaps RPG400-L) some
time ago about associating user-defined attributes with i5/OS objects.
I've been mulling the use of stream files for program source for a while,
and I think one of the major arguments against storing source as stream
files is that *MODULE objects can't reference stream files for their
source file attribute. I thought perhaps adding a user-defined attribute
might be an answer.

I've poked around the API finder in the InfoCentre, as well as searching
the archives for all of the midrange.com lists, but I can't remember the
specific name of this feature. Does any one have a better memory than I
do?

TIA,
Adam
