Hi Ed! I am back on this project:

Do you have an example that you can give me that can show me:

a) My DDs for my database file: that will hold the data from the
displayed
journal
b) My DSPJRN command: how it needs to be coded to get this.

I currently have examples that I can read in our local system but this is

reading the journal of a database. I have an RPG program reading from
the
journal and writing into the database the whole data structure, so I do
not miss anything.

I am not sure that it will be a simple thing to do with the IFS data I
want to pull from this journal.

What release are you running on? If it is V5R4 then WRKJRNA has an outfile
based on the QAWRKJRNA model file that may provide the information you are
looking for.

What is your objective? What do you plan to do with the physical file
containing all the journal data? From you earlier note I understand that
your system is using an iTera high availability product that is journaling
directories and stream files in those directories. That product is
probably capturing all the information from the journal and then using it
to replay the operations on another system. As I said before if you mess
with ("mess with" is a technical term for read, display, copy, write, lock,
etc) this journal or its receivers you could cause problems for the iTera
product (and therefore also your backup system).
