Subject
Ruby on Rails on i

A while back I started a "pet" project to port Ruby to the PASE
environment on my lumbering model 270. It was rather in the same vein
as running PHP on the i : I don't immediately have a project requiring
it but curiosity got the best of me and I love a challenge so I went
ahead and did it. I have Ruby on Rails running on my 270. It IS SLOW
so patience is currently required. I am learning more about Rails and
how to improve performance so I still have a ways to go until we are
ready to develop a "production" site using Ruby.

It is a proof of concept site. It is completely running on the 270 in
PASE. Apache is doing a little traffic routing but the actual
application is running in PASE. If any of you are interested, take a
look. It add yet another technology to the System i's bag of tricks.
You can expect me to do a presentation on Ruby on Rails on i at next
year's Spring Common conference. This is fairly cool stuff.
