Yep, that helps, thanks!

The question we're dealing with now is 'how did this particular profile get
disabled without a message to QSYSMSG?'. I know that it can be disabled
manually without producing a message but I don't think that is what happened
in this case.

We're still checking and watching.

Thanks,

Steve

CPF1393 specifically states: "Subsystem &1 disabled user profile &2 on
device &3." Are they using QUSRWRK for 5250 emulation? Or, are the jobs
in question some sort of server job? Like, iNav, etc.

I tried using iNav with a new user profile. Created a second connection
to an existing machine. Signed on as a new user. Used 8 or 9 invalid
passwords. Never did get a disabled message. HOWEVER QMAXSGNACN is set
to 1 disable device only, not the profile.

So, I changed that system value from 1 to 3. And tried the iNav thing
again. Now QSYSMSG shows:
Subsystem QUSRWRK disabled user profile ROBMCK on device *N.

Is that what you were looking for?

Monitor for disabled user profile from sbs other than QINTER

I have a CL program that is monitoring QSYSMSG for CPF1393, which
indicates
that a user profile was disabled. The program sends a message to our help

desk so they can be proactive about re-enabling and educating the user.
This works perfectly for user profiles disabled in the QINTER subsystem.

Recently, we began having a problem with a certain profile being disabled
by
QUSRWRK. My CL program does not pick up a CPF1393 in QSYSMSG when
QUSRWRK
disables a user profile.

For V5R4, should QUSRWRK place CPF1393 into QSYSMSG when it disables
profiles? If not, does it generate the message into another message
queue?

Thanks,

Steve
