Is there an alternative to RUNRMTCMD?
I am looking for something that will execute a program on a PC from a
CL program and give me more feedback than RUNRMTCMD.
What sort of feedback are you looking for? Typically, RUNRMTCMD will
provide lots of feedback about the program that it ran -- but that
feedback will go into a spooled file! Naturally, a CL program can use
CPYSPLF and DCLF/RCVF to read the spooled file, if it wants to.
Another interesting alternative is the rexec command in QShell. It uses
the same network protocol that RUNRMTCMD uses, but it connects the
output from the PC program to the QShell stdout & stderr data streams,
so you don't have to muck around with spooled files.
Other than that, what sort of feedback are you looking for?
