Hi Paul

Thanks for the response. I had been wondering whether your concerns were
just on a pricing basis or you had had operational issues using on of
Visions products. It seemed clear to me that you felt that the combination
of Vision and Mimix would have a negative effect on Mimix and I was
interested in your specific reasons for thinking that.

I have one customer using Vision so naturally I was curious. I'd have to say
they have had no major issues.

I've also got customers successfully using DataMirror and noMax so there are
still alternatives out there, although obviously quite a few less than when
iTera and Mimix were independent competitors.

Thanks again for sharing your insight.

Regards
Evan Harris

If you define FUD as Fear Uncertainty and Doubt then you have described
it perfectly. I used to be a large Visions customer and they had the
worst support of any vendor I've ever dealt with. In fact that is the
primary reason I switched to Mimix. I had numerous large files that
would go on hold every day with Visions and they spent a month spinning
their wheels, from day one with Mimix those files have not been on hold
one time. Many times I would apply their patches following their
instructions to the letter only to have applications fail for reasons
they could not explain. As others have said now I don't have a real
alternative for HA, we are at the mercy of the "leaders" at one
company.
I'm interested in hearing why Mark Shearer thinks this is a good thing,
to me and many others it's a big step in the wrong direction. Maybe
this will prod IBM to take HA in house and put it where it belongs, in
the OS.

Be interesting to know why you have this opinion, otherwise it sounds
like
FUD.
