You could also issue:
CHGPF FILE(library/filename) CCSID(37)

for each physical file. This converts the file (all fields) to CCSID 37, in-place. No need to change DDS source, or recreate each file from source (with CRTPF), or use SQL Alter Table, etc. (No "translation" of the character fields actually takes place when converting from 65535.)

Check the QCCSID system value to see how it is currently set.

Examine your user profiles to see how CCSID is set. (I suggest *SYSVAL for this.)
