According to IBM Knowledge Base, looks like remote outq (lpr)is only network connection. There are pdt's to setup where zebra is cabled into a pc, & using iSeries Access definition.
I use the lpr remote outq and connect them to a Jet Direct device. Be aware some devices from Zebra have different programming languages, so if your goal is a common set of code toprint stuff, watch what models. I would insist on the ZPL programming models.

Jeff, We're using a remote output queue method. Why don't you want to do it this way? Glenn Gundermann ggundermann@xxxxxx (647) 272-3295All, We're attempting to demo a Zebra 110xi label printer. The reseller (and Zebra literature) tells me it can be set up on the i5 aseither a remote outqueue or a print device. I want it set up as a printdevice and so far cannot find the person within Zebra to tell me how to dothis.I see a number of posts here indicating it's use as a remote outqueue, butI'm looking for an actual instance where it's used as a print device.
