Yes, the jar utility will make a compressed archive that is compatible with 
pkware .zip files.

Hello, what do you think is the best way to compress IFS files?  Something like 
cprobj would be nice since I don't want to change these files and they may be 
used again at some point.  
 
I can't buy pkzip.  
 
Would JAR do it for me?
