It's not new code. It's been in production for several years on V5R2. I
even added one to the buffer start position and subtracted one from the
length. Read just returned the 2nd character from the file in the 2nd
byte of the buffer, nothing in the first. It's wrong. I'm not looking
for anyone to tell me how to fix it. Just fyi...
