I should hope we're non-standard! I've been going around and around with a software vendor that keeps insisting that I need to tell our DBA to run the "Database Optimization Tool" they provide-- it uses the RUNSTATS process to rebuild file indices, gather statistics, and otherwise clean up the database.

I keep telling them that the iSeries doesn't -have- a RUNSTATS command, it doesn't -need- a RUNSTATS command, and that I -am- the DBA.

*sigh*

Paul:

Although there appears to be no runstats command exactly, there is access to the DB2 statisitics through (IIRC) the iNav Database context menu. With no iNav available in front of me, I'd guess to expand the connection and <right-click> on the Database node.

It's somewhere around there, maybe a level deeper. I think the menu item is simply 'Statistics'.

Now, AFAIK, it's not designed to invoke rebuilds, reorgs nor much else. But it ought to give some kind of useful info. As you can guess, I haven't used it myself for much. Just noted it while exploring.

If it _is_ useful, maybe someone can supply details.
