I will second that, Amit. If you have to drive a nail into a piece of wood,
is it less expensive to go buy a hammer or to go dig your own iron ore,
refine it into steel, mix it with the proper alloys, forge it into a
hammerhead, cut down a tree, craft the handle, fit the handle and the head
together, and so on, and so on?

Of course you can do that. I'll even give you a couple ideas of what
to look for. And this is what we have already done - what is your
time worth? Our software is not all that expensive, others are more,
others are less. It's worth at least looking at commercial solutions.
If you are working on a commercial solution yourself, consider asking
us about a relationship.

Philosophical point made! Here's what can be done - at least. You can
get PDFs from using InfoPrint Server. This is IBM's product. I've
done it myself for fun, we even have a small product that facilitates
its use. But you don't need it if you want to do a fair amount of
work. Anyway, go to InfoCenter and look up InfoPrint Server under the
Printing topic.

As to emailing, there are at least 2 options - SNDDST (easiest but
problematic) and the email APIs - QtmmSendMail - is better. Of
course, we've done the heavy lifting already - as have the other
vendors who have responded or been recommended to you.

You should be able to google on these and get some examples - IBM has
lots of stuff, as they are the source of the stuff in the first
place. And search the archives of this list. Or join iSociety and use
their search engine - it goes to several resources. www.isociety.org
is the link - it is NOT a vendor.

Hi,

Thanks to all for the various suggestion provided.

  But I have a query...

Can't this be possible using a batch job....

  What I mean is...

Say for example.... A user fires a job.. which generates a report.. I get
the details of this spooled report ...
Is it possible by anychance that I convert this spooled file to PDF by
writing some code in RPGLE / CLLE..
Or do I need to specifically use some third party tool for the conversion
to PDF.?

 Secondly,
Once when the PDF is generated.. can it be E-mailed to the resp user using
a batch pgm.?

Kindly suggest me..

If there's any sample code available on net .. Can anyone send it..plz

Thanks & regards,
Amit

If you're looking for some FREE code, there are probably examples on the
iSeries Network site.

If you're looking for a supported commercial option, feel free to take a
look at our Email Report Server/400 or Native iSeries Converter product.

Hi,

Can anyone help me out in converting a SpoolFile to PDF and HTML's &
E-mail it across to the respective person.

It would be of great help if someone provides me the code with which it
could be possible.
