Booth,

You may need to tell the CVTDAT command what the from format is in order
to get the to format correct.

Subject: Using CL, how do I get the month from a data date field?

I have a date type field in the first record of a data file.

I want to get the month from it, in CL.

Here's what I tried and I can not make work:

CVTDAT DATE(&FCMDTE) TOVAR(&FCMDTE) TOFMT(*ISO)
IF COND(%SUBSTRING(&FCMDTE 4 2) = '04') THEN(DO)

The CVTDAT fails because the CL believes the date field is *MDY (RTVJOBA
of DATFMT = *MDY).

I believe I am making this way to complicated.
