Ideally you would upgrade to V5R4.  Just do it.  And if the save file is 
full of code samples, it "may" have V5R4 only code.

If it is source code only you may be able to open the save file as a 
regular file and access it this way.  This used to be an old hack that 
some people used to undelete deleted records.  Once you get into it put 
the data into a source physical file of your choice.
