I used to use RTVCFGSTS to retrieve the status of a tape device.  This way 
I could see if it was varied on and ready for the backup.  If it was 
failed or something I could vary it off and on and check the status once 
more.  If it was active to some other user then the status would be 60.
However, when I try this on a media library it also has a status of 60. 
Even when it is in the proper state for my usage.  So, how do I tell if it 
is active but still ready for my usage?  Get the status of 60 and try a 
tape operation and see if that gives me the error that the pucker is busy? 
 Like CHKTAP with a resulting CPF416A, reason code 2?
