Lukas,

IBM has something called "Tivoli IT Director".  You can host it on an 
iSeries, or on some other platform.  There is an "agent" that can run on 
i, along with lots of other platforms.  My boss watches it and can see if 
there are any issues on any servers, i or otherwise.  Like this i has a 
hardware issue, that windows platform is running at x% of disk, etc.
