Another consideration is the 'other' ways the data will be used. If
it's only used by your program, then I would use direct IFS reads from
RPG. If the data will be used in SQL or QUERY/400 or other processes
that expect a traditional, externally described data file, then I
would use the copy to a PF technique.

this I used Scott Klement's tutorial (www.scottklement.com) and just
read directly from the IFS; saves the step of copying to a PF.


The hard part is going to be parsing the data elements, though unlike
mine, yours appears to be fixed (positional).  The delimiters ( | ) in
mine floated!
