I haven't tried mass insert, but you can update identity values by specifying OVERRIDING SYSTEM VALUE clause, i.e.: UPDATE t1 OVERRIDING SYSTEM VALUE SET (identity, data_field) = (786, 47) WHERE data_field = 55 You can also reset identity column generator value by doing something like: ALTER TABLE t1 ALTER COLUMN identity RESTART WITH 1 and then trying mass INSERT... it should generate values as you normally see.
