We ran into something similar today. Although we are allowed to use CRTDUPOBJ so we did that to both the physical and the logical. Then we had done an ADDPFM. To do the matching ADDLFM without hardcoding the library we used something like RTVOBJD OBJ(*LIBL/PHYSFILE) OBJTYPE(*FILE) RTNLIB(&RTNLIB) We do not allow source on our production systems. This is where SQL comes in real handy. create table qtemp/workfile as (select * from physfile order by ...) Now you have a nice sorted file that ought to block like crazy. Rob Berendt
